Sweeping Machine Maintenance: Your Daily Guide to Keeping Your Sweeper, Sweeping

You expect your sweeping machine to work well, right? But if you expect it to keep delivering those spotless results, you’ll need to give your machine some TLC. Like any good relationship, it’s about both parties doing their bit to keep the cogs turning (pardon the pun) – the same applies to you and your trusty sweeping machine. Translation? A little sweeper maintenance goes a long way.

New around here? Well, HELLO! Let’s get you up to speed: A sweeping machine is a clever contraption that sweeps and vacuums dust and debris in one swift move. No more strenuous sweeping. These machines come in all shapes and sizes, specifically built to tackle almost any waste in their path. Bottom line? They make floor cleaning faster, easier, and way more efficient.

Now, if you want to keep your sweeping machine happy and running like it should, it’s smart to invest in a servicing package. That way, any areas showing wear and tear are repaired before it progresses to cause bigger problems. Our team of mobile service engineers across the country have got you covered. But between those service visits, there are a few things you can do to keep your machine in tip-top shape, ensuring it continues to be the workhorse in your facility!

Anyhow, on with your daily sweeper maintenance list:

(you can find the usable checklist here)

  1. Use the filter shaker:

After each use it’s important to use the filter shaker to keep your filter clear and able to collect fine dust and debris well, preventing it from clogging or becoming damaged.

  1. Empty the waste bin:

Disposing of hopper (bin) waste is essential for cleanliness. Leaving waste to sit will only encourage bacteria and mould growth, something you don’t want for a CLEANING machine. Not only this but forgetting to empty the bin on your sweeping machine will only cause your sweeper to stop working when it’s full, potentially wasting precious time and resource if initially un-noticed.

  1. Remove debris from bristles:

Whatever your environment, it’s likely for some debris to become entangled in the bristles of your machine. If left to accumulate, your brushes will no longer work effectively and need to be replaced much sooner than if the bristles were cleaned out and worn down from use.

  1. Check wet battery levels (if applicable):

Over time the battery acid levels will need topping up to ensure your industrial sweeper has the juice to power on as it should. You can easily check this by monitoring the battery indicator regularly.

  1. Ensure lights and brakes work:

This one doesn’t need much explaining! Spending a few seconds checking these essential safety features before each use could save your machine and facility damages, on top of keeping nearby pedestrians safe. Problems are cheaper and easier to prevent than to fix. Better safe than sorry!

Weekly sweeper checklist:

(only applicable for engine ride on sweepers)

  1. Check engine oil
  2. Check coolant level
  3. Check hydraulic oil

So, there you have it – give your cleaning machine some TLC, and it’ll reward you with flawless floors and fewer problems. Regular maintenance isn’t just a good idea; it’s the key to keeping your sweeping machine in peak condition. In-between service visits, spending those few extra minutes checking your sweeping machine before and after each use could save you avoidable costs and precious time. Like we said, better safe than sorry! And remember, our lovely team is only a call away if you need a helping hand. Keep the routine running smoothly, and let your machine do what it does best; make your life easier!
